HOLY IMAGE, HALLOWED GROUND: ICONS FROM SINAI

HOLY IMAGE, HALLOWED GROUND: ICONS FROM SINAI was produced for the J. Paul Getty Museum as part of their groundbreaking exhibition Holy Image, Hallowed Ground: Icons from Sinai. It was exhibited from November 14, 2006 to March 4, 2007.

This ten minute documentary is a beautiful portrait of the rituals and life at St. Catherine's Monastery. Located at the foot of Mt. Sinai, it is the world's oldest, continuously operating Christian monastery and the largest repository of Christian icons in the world. The film illuminates the sights and sounds of St. Catherine's, explores the integration of art and liturgy, and shows how these icons play a vital role in the Monastery today.

In addition to the documentary, the Getty commissioned Lyn Goldfarb Productions to produce 60,000 copies of a limited edition DVD with special behind-the-scenes extras about the making of the exhibition.
